:: How to choose your apartment rentals 7th arrondissement Paris, France? ::
Home of the Eiffel Tower, the magnificent Invalides, the National Assembly and some of Paris’ most pristine and beautiful neighborhoods, the seventh is a breathtaking experience for visitors.
The 7th arrondissement is a peaceful ideal district for Paris apartment rentals, rather pastoral district in spite of the many popular attractions to be found here. These residential areas are essentially made up of Haussmann-style buildings and 1930s architecture, and are quiet, clean and calm.
One of the world’s most famous constructs, the Eiffel Tower, is also located here.
The Tour Eiffel has become the international symbol of Paris and one of the most famous landmarks in the world. Built by Gustave Eiffel in 1887-1889, the tower was almost torn down by the Parisian government in 1909 and was only kept due to its use as a giant antenna. From dusk until 2 am, a light show illuminates the tower for ten minutes of every hour.
There are four main options for accessing the Eiffel Tower from apartment rentals in Paris or from anywhere in the city. Metro Station École Militaire (Ligne 8) includes a pleasant walk up the Champ de Mars toward the tower, while Metro Station Trocadéro (Ligne 6 or 9) features some of the best photo opportunities of the tower. Metro Station Bir-Hakeim (Ligne 6) gives you more strolling time, with a 2 minute walk time to the tower. You can also take the RER, Champ de Mars-Tour Eiffel (Ligne C), which is adjacent to Bir-Hakeim Métro stop mentioned above.
Entrance to the Eiffel Tower a "first come, first serve" basis. The tower does not sell advance tickets or accept reservations in advance. Lines here can be long, but depending on the time of day, season and a bit of luck, they can be surprisingly short. The North, West and East legs have elevators that go to the first and second floors, and the South has stairs that can be taken to the second tier. Access to the top level requires an additional elevator ride, and entrance fee also varies depending on how high up the tower one wishes to ride.
For shopping, be sure to visit Le Bon Marché, the world's first department store and one of the largest such stories in modern Paris. Why not stroll there every day from your apartment rentals 7th arrondissement Paris until you find that perfect something?
The 7th also includes an exciting assortment of museums, such as The Musée d'Orsay, featuring possibly the most comprehensive collection of European impressionism in the world, with entire rooms dedicated to the works of Van Gogh, Renoir, Manet, Monet, and much more to explore outside the realm of Impressionism, too. Housed in a former Beaux-Arts railway station (created for the Exposition Universelle and, like the Eiffel Tower, narrowly rescued from destruction), this open-plan museum houses the works of many amazing artists. Various Paris vacation apartments rent let you live near these exciting world-class cultural attractions.
Opened in 2006, the Musée du quai Branly is the newest addition to Paris' collection of great museums, with multimedia presentations and a great collection of tribal art, with a particular focus on France's territories in Oceania and Africa, past and present.
The Musée Rodin is dedicated to the life and work of this great sculptor, with an extensive collection housed in an airy building with huge windows that are kept open in fair weather.
The VIIe arrondissement is also home to a number of French national institutions, such as the French National Assembly and French ministries.
The National Assembly (“Assemblée Nationale” in French), formerly the Palais Bourbon, has many guided tours throughout the day for visitors. It has been the seat of the French National Assembly, the lower legislative chamber of the French government, since 1827. Visitors interested in French government may be interested in attending debates held here. The library features the painting “The History of Civilization” by Delacroix.
The Palais was originally constructed for the legitimized daughter of Louis XIV and Françoise-Athénaïs by Italian architect Giardini. As it was not a royal seat of power, the French called it a “maison de plaisance”.
Les Invalides was founded in 1671 by Louis XIV as a hospital for 6,000 war-wounded soldiers. The name is a shortened form of “hospital for invalids” in French. The golden-domed Hôtel des Invalides still functions as an infirmary and now also houses the Musée de l'Armée (Museum of the Armed Forces).
Les Invalides was designed by Libéral Bruant in the 17th century. By the time the project was finished in 1676, the complex had fifteen courtyards, the largest being the "court of honor" for military parades.
A veterans’ chapel known as Eglise Saint-Louis des Invalides was completed in 1679. Shortly after the veterans' chapel was completed, Louis XIV had Mansart construct a separate private royal chapel, often referred to as the Église du Dôme for it golden dome, inspired by St. Peter's Basilica (the inspiration for all Baroque domes).
Of course, the most famous tomb at Les Invalides is of Napoleon Bonaparte, who was initially interred on Saint Helena but moved here by King Louis-Philippe in 1840. In 1861 Napoleon was moved to the most prominent location under the golden dome.
