:: How to choose your apartment rentals 2nd arrondissement Paris, France? ::
Located on the Right Bank, the 2nd arrondissement is about as centrally located as one can find, only a stone’s throw from the Seine, Louvre, and some of Paris’ most popular attractions and districts.
Although the 2e arrondissement in French (often abbreviated “IIe arrondissement”) is Paris' smallest district, its land area is actually less than a kilometer (a quarter of a square mile). The 2nd arrondissement reached its peak of settlement in mid-19th century, though it has only existed in its current form since Paris was reorganized in 1860. According to the 1999 census, the population was almost 20,000, making it the arrondissement with the densest concentration of commercial activity in the capital.
For such a small area, the 2nd is tightly packed with restaurants, cafes, bistros, and shops, including the trendy Montorgueil, Opera and more.
The former Paris Bourse (stock exchange) is here, as is the Opéra-Comique concert hall. For shopping, look no further than the ready-to-wear garment district, Sentier. You will find it is easy to walk, eat and shop in the heart of central Paris while staying in apartment rentals 2nd arrondissement.
In addition to the quaint, trendy Montorgueil district to the east, the financial districts around the Bourse are also here, as well as the Opéra district to the west, they all offer corporate apartment in Paris. As you will see while staying in your apartment rentals in Paris, the 2nd also contains several 19th century glass-roofed "galeries" or "passages", remnants of the day when most of the streets of Paris were muddy and lacking sidewalks. Some entrepreneurs put heir heads together and mimicked the successful Passage des Panoramas and its pedestrian passageways, which were dry, well-lit and paved. By the mid-1900s there were about 24 of these commercial malls. As the main streets were paved, most of them disappeared, and sidewalks and gas street lighting were added. In the second arrondissement, the commercial survivors are the Passage des Princes, the Passage Lemoine, the Passage Jouffroy, the Galerie Colbert, the Galerie Vivienne, Passage du Ponceau, the Passage du Grand Cerf, the Passage Basfour, the Passage Choiseul, the passage du Bourg-L'abbé, and the Passage du Caire.
The place des Victoires here is located here. A beautiful round 'square' with a statue of King Louis the XIVth on horseback and matching XVIIth century buildings, you can also see the XVIIth century church, the Notre Dame des Victoires. Take in a moment of its serene peace from your Paris rentals 2nd district.
Many bookstores, cafes, bistros and famous bakeries can be found here, particularly in the direction of the Montorgueil. A favorite among both tourists and locals, the quaint yet ulta-hip Montorgueil is lively into the evening as well as during the daylight hours, with local commerce, cafés, restaurants and bars. You may find this is the ideal area to search for apartment rentals in Paris that helps you explore Paris at an unhurried pace, living as a local would. In addition to choices for vegetarians, the Montorgueil and 2nd has tapas bars, restaurants and spas to explore.
For a more exciting evening scene, you may wish to try the Opera area, which remains busy day and night due to the number of main roads that converge here. The business districts, on the other hand, are relatively quiet past rush hour.
In the main residential community around the lively Montorgueil pedestrian district, one may find unique, bohemian short and long term apartment rentals in Paris with quiet courtyards away from the streets. Although modern additions certainly exist, they are always built with an eye to complimenting the style of the district.
Situated on the right bank of the Seine, adjacent to the 8th and 9th arrondissements, the second is near so much of central Paris, you will be happy you chose it as your starting our point to explore this beautiful city.
