:: How to choose your apartment rentals 12th arrondissement Paris, France? ::
The placid 12th (or “XIIe arrondissement” in French), is a peaceful residential area, a mix of bohemian and middle-class residents. There are more than a few parks here, open and closed markets, a sporting venue, and of course Paris’ largest Opera house.
The 12th is one of Paris' largest arrondissements, and there's much to see here.
Lovers of art and graphic design will want to visit the Viaduc des Arts, a former railroad space that has since been converted into an exciting area with a number of design studios, fine art galleries and charming restaurants.
There are many shopping opportunities near your 12th arrondissement apartment rentals in Paris. Paris' most reasonably priced open air market, the Marche d'Aligre, is located here, and sells clothes, antiques, curious and much more. Nearby, the indoor Marche Beauvau market offers a variety of good with a predominant North African flair. There are food shops and restaurants here, as well.
If you're looking for well-priced computers or electronics (relative to the European marketplace), try the rue Charenton near the Jardin de Reuilly. And if you need more luggage to carry back all your "finds," there are a few shops offering traveling accessories near the Gare de Lyon.
The expression "bo-bo," or "bohemian-meets-bourgeois," accurately sums up the character of the 12th. There are many affordable, charming places to eat, such as Refuge at 54 Ave. Daumesnil, behind the Gare de Lyon, offering hip French cuisine with vegetarian options. l'Ébauchoir at 43 rue de la Citeaux has more traditional offerings. And at the first floor of the Gare de Lyon is the swanky restaurant Le Train Bleu, with a wonderful décor. Reservations are highly recommended.
The 12th has various sights worth checking out, including the newer of the two opera houses, the modern Opéra Bastille, which opened on the 200th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille.
There are also various parks and green spaces here to enjoy from your short term apartment rental Paris, some of them "one of a kind." The Bois de Vincennes is one of the world's largest parks. It gets its name from the nearby town, Vincennes.
Consisting of nearly 4 square miles (that's about 2,500 acres), the Bois is almost four times larger than Hyde Park in London, and three times as big as Central Park in New York. Originally the park was set aside as hunting grounds for the French royal family. Although Napoleon III opened it to the public in 1860, its royal character remains in evidence, due to the Castle of Vincennes (Château de Vincennes), which served as a second home to many kinds in the 14th century. The Bois contains a sporting venue and a zoo, as well.
The 12th is accessible by the RER-A, and metro lines 1, 6, 8 and 14. This is central Paris that's a little removed from the bustle of the districts closer to the Seine, and you may find the prices here a bit more accessible. The major monuments and sights can be easily reached by Metro, and you will find the 12th has its own charms to enjoy.
The Jardin Rabin Garden has lovely waterworks and landscape art that lends a charming allure to a place that exists a world away from the stresses of the everyday world. You'll find bridges, fountains and deep relaxation here.
For a cultural outing from your student apartment rental in France, visit the Musée National des Arts Africains et Océaniens (National Museum of Oceanic and African Art). Located in an elaborate Art Deco structure, the museum celebrates the art of overseas French territories and was built for the Colonial Exhibition of 1931.
Needless to say, the Opéra Bastille, located at Metro Bastille, is one of the best places to see live opera and ballet in the world. And the Palais Omnisport is the place to see some of the world's best sporting events. Both are quite close to your Paris apartments rental 12th district.
If you're still in the mood for relaxation in green areas, try the Promenade Plantée, a former railroad area that's been converted into a 4-mile long "walking park." You can have a relaxing stroll all the way from the Bois de Vincennes to the Place de Bastille, and take the Metro back.
