- A great time was had in this area of Paris - the 1st arrondissement. Walking distance to major museums, shopping and reasonable restaurants. Apartment smaller than we had imagined. An usual amount of Japanese restaurants in area along with fine Paris eateries. For some old world charm, try the historic belle epoque restaurant and bar "Le Fumoir" - hidden gem near the Louvre. Would recommend reading "Paris Pas Cher" for options (shopping, restaurants) for each Paris neighbourhood. Apartment was clean, fairly well equipped, quiet, and overlooking a lovely courtyard. Only recommendation would be to provide more information about the area on arrival, nearest Monoprix or Franprix to purchase groceries, info on bus lines, etc. Overall a most agreeable experience.
